Brantley Gilbert

Found on Google Images.
I have been listening to Brantley Gilbert for at least 6 months or so now, and I am absolutely in love! He has that gravelly voice, with a rock edge to his music. Some of it is in your face, and other times it is taken down a notch to a ballad of sorts. He looks like the “bad boy” your parents always told you to stay away from. Needless to say, I love his music.
Currently, Gilbert has three albums out. The first is titled “A Modern Day Prodigal Son” and is pretty good, but not my favorite.  His second album is titled “Halfway To Heaven (Deluxe Edition)” and is greatly improved from the first album. One of my favorite songs on this album is called “Saving Amy” where he slows it down with his gritty voice and tells a story. Another of my favorites is "More Than Miles" which is again a ballad of sorts, but holds great emotion.

His third, and most recent, album is called “Just As I Am” and is even better! Gilbert teams up with a couple other newer Country Music singers for the song “Small Town Throwdown” and even includes a music video, which I think is kind of funny. My hands down favorite song off of this album is "My Baby's Guns N' Roses"and that is because the chorus is something that I mostly do. It goes,
She's shooting whiskey singing sweet child of mine, man.
Riding 95 sitting' shot gun pretty,
Turning this town into paradise city.
Runnin' wide ass open.
Just as fast as this thing goes, boy,
Give me some more.
She's my little rock star, man she knows it.
My baby's Guns N' Roses."

I went to one of Gilbert's concerts back in May at Red Rocks, and he is FANTASTIC live. A lot of times musicians do not sound as good live as they do on the album, but this is not the case. Unfortunately one of the videos that I took at the concert, but here is one of the pictures that I took!

  1. Thanks for the link! I'm an information junkie, and love being able to follow trails. It's really cool that you've been to see Brantly Gilbert in concert. My brother is a sound engineer and will be the first to tell you how a live concert will separate the chaff from the wheat. Your enthusiasm for this musician is contagious.

  2. Hi Ashley, thanks for the information about Brantly Gilbert. The details you gave are very fresh and informative. Makes me want to listen to one of his songs. I like your pictures and the report about the concert at Red Rocks. I think it's quite all right not to mention that a video you took didn't turn out, because what you gave here works very well. I have to remember as an artist not to apologize for my failures because my artistic vision always includes something I can't quite reach yet.
